Death at Edinburgh Airport as 81 year old man falls from lift

A man, aged 81, has passed away following a fall from an assistance lift at Edinburgh Airport.

According to initial reports from the Daily Record, the individual was receiving assistance to disembark from a plane on November 28, resulting in a fall of 6ft (1.8m) onto the tarmac below. Despite receiving treatment at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, he passed away on December 7.

The Health and Safety Executive is conducting an investigation, and Police Scotland has confirmed that there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident.

A spokesperson for Edinburgh Airport said: "We are aware of the death of an 81 year old man following a fall at Edinburgh Airport. We offer our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased.

"At this time we are cooperating fully with regulatory authorities in their investigations."
