Residents urged to keep windows shut as crews and helicopter tackle smoke and flames in West Lothian.
Fire crews remain at the scene of a large wildfire in West Lothian after a blaze broke out in a remote forest area near Fauldhouse on Saturday. The fire, which began just off the B7010 around midday on May 10, has prompted a major emergency response, with around 50 firefighters currently working to bring the flames under control. A helicopter has also been deployed to drop water on the affected area. Due to thick smoke drifting across the region, local residents are being urged to keep windows and doors closed. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said it was alerted to the incident at 11.43am and has mobilised nine appliances, a high volume pump, all-terrain vehicle and a water bowser to the scene.
